Annie Mae Miller, 83, of Wadsworth passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in Bay City. She was born October 10, 1930 in El Maton, TX to the late Adolph & Ethel Vavra Genzer. Annie was a life long resident of Matagorda County, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wadsworth, a life member of VFW Post 2438 Ladies Auxiliary, and worked as an office clerk for J. C. Penny's for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband: William E. Miller of Wadsworth; 3 daughters: Doris Layton & husband Johnny of Wadsworth, Karen Trobl & husband Jimmy of Bay City, and Laura Evans & husband Steve of Barksdale, TX; son: Joe Gates & wife Sandra of League City; step daughter: Kathy Cofrin & husband Albert of Houston; sister: Bernice Woodrow & husband Charles of Brazoria, brother: Stanley Genzer & wife Joyce of Markham; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Roderick Gates and 5 siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the funeral home. The mass will be held 10:00 AM Friday, January 10, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wadsworth with Father Greg Korenek officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be: Johnny Lee Layton Jr., Joey Trobl, David Allen, Steven Evans, Jr., Caleb Evans, Will Evans, Paul Brunner and Rod Gates. Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
