Anita Marie Senkyrik, 84, of Cedar Lane passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. She was born April 23, 1927 to the late James Arthur Smith & Bessie Jane Nettles Smith. She worked 28 years as a clerk for the ASCS Office in Bay City, and then as the secretary for the Bay City Tribune. She was a life long resident of Matagorda County, a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, and of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. The most important thing to Anita, was spending time with her grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed working in her yard and garden, watching the cows on her farm, and traveling to tournaments with her teammates on the Bay City Bowling League.
Her husband Jerome Harry Senkyrik, parents, brother James Arthur Smith, Jr., and sister Gloria Elizabeth Arledge all preceded her in death. Survivors include son Mark J. & wife Dianna Senkyrik of Cedar Lane; 2 sisters Jayne Kelley of Sweeny & Jean Ann Tatum of Wadsworth; 5 grandchildren Stacey Marie Senkyrik of Angleton, Chad Alan Senkyrik & wife Robin of Lexington, SC, Sonja Rene LeVasseur & husband Lonnie of League City, Scott Allen Lausch & wife Amber of LaPorte & Lyora "Lynn" Lewis & husband Michael of Lake Jackson and 15 great grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm. Mass will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City with Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Chad Alan Senkyrik, Paul Kristynik, Craig Kelley, Jim Tatum, Tom Kovar & Scott Lausch. Memorials may be made to the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City.
