Althea Frances Barrett, 75, of Bay City passed away December 1, 2012. She was born May 29, 1937 in Rochester, MA to the late Frances Bradley & Hazel Swift Bradley. She graduated from Everett High School in Everett, MA in May 1956. On September 6, 1958 she married D. W. "Buddy" Barrett. She attended nursing school at Winthrop Community Hospital in Winthrop, MA and graduated as an LVN in March 1958. She worked with Dr. Fred Matthes for many years and following retirement found joy in working at Myra's Garden. She enjoyed gardening, but most of all, spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Barrett, sisters Joyce Bradley & Rosemary Whalen, and brothers Jerry & Harvey Bradley. Survivors include mother-in-law Jean "Mom" Barrett; daughters Debbie Sharer & husband Tim of Friendswood and Becky Cook & husband Bubba of Bay City; son David Barrett & wife Donna of Bay City; sisters Blanche Ellis, Sarah Bergami, Ramona Berry & Susan Georgakopoulos; brothers Vernon Berry, Jimmy Bradley & David Bradley; grandchildren Cody Cook & wife Ashley, Lane Barrett & wife Julia, Casey Simmons & husband Wayne, Chad Barrett, Jessica Sharer and Katelyn Sharer and great granddaughter Kailyn Cook. Also among those she leaves behind are longtime family friend Kathy Abels and caregiver Mercedes Garcia.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:30-7:30 PM Monday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Lane Pardue officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Cook, Bubba Cook, Lane Barrett, Chad Barrett, Tim Sharer & Wayne Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be David Barrett, Dr. Fred Matthes, Kevin Mayo and Ron Bentley. Memorials may be made to Houston Hospice-El Campo, the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
