Alma Louise Rowland, 92, of Bay City passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Legacy Nursing Center in Bay City. She was born on September 11, 1915 in Santa Anna, Texas to parents, Claude and Annie Taylor Westbrook. She was a life-long Methodist and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom Rowland, a daughter, Gerry Rowland, and a grandson, Kent Rowland Wade. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Judy Rowland of Rosenburg, a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Bill Johnson of Bay City, Grandchildren, Kathy and Kent McVey of Friendswood, Amy Rowland of Austin, Carie and her husband Daniel Thering of Dallas, and Ginny Rowland of Austin. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew McVey, Eli White, and Thomas Thering. Visitation will be Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 and a funeral service will be held at the chapel of Bay City Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Thursday with Rev. Pauline Harvey officiating. A private burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.
