Alma Joann (Susie) Glasscock, 78, of El Maton, Tx passed away May 1, 2026. She was born July 19, 1947, in Bay City, Texas, to the late Thomas McKissick and Alma Vavra McKissick.
Susie graduated from Tidehaven high school in 1965, where she was the salutatorian. After high school, she left Matagorda County to attend college in San Marcos, Southwest Texas State College where she graduated cum laude with a major in Spanish and minor in English. It was in the library of SWTSU that she caught the eye of her future husband, William Craig Glasscock.
Their court ship was not a long one. They got married on May 25, 1968 – 57 years ago. To say that her teaching career would have a lasting effect on many of her students would be an understatement. “Best teacher I ever had”, “sweetest person I know”, “one of the best ladies I have ever known”, “such a sweet and caring person” were just a few of many great things people had to say about her.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Gerald (Donna) McKissick, Kenneth (Laura) McKissick; and sister, Jessie (Jack) Falks. Survivors include her husband, Craig Glasscock; son, Michael (Davina) Glasscock; daughter, Robin Glasscock; 7 grandchildren, Waylon, Skylar, Makayla, Hunter, Emma, Tristan, and Michael; and 8 great-grandchildren, Cordell, Reagan, Levi, Kinsley, Harper, Ridleigh, Salem, and Delilah.
The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 2-3:00pm Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00pm with Rev. David King officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery near Blessing. Pallbearers for Susie will be Kenny McKissick, Jerry McKissick, Kevin McKissick, Robert Dannels, Waylon Glasscock, Brax Rose, Richard Sedillo, and Hunter Glasscock.
