Obituary

Allen Baker, 79, of Bay City passed away March 29, 2023.  He was born December 10, 1943 in Austin, Texas to the late Jesse Allen Baker, Sr. and Ella Ruth Fields Baker.

Allen was a Marine, he was a cowboy.  He was ten feet tall and bullet-proof, and that was on a bad day. He could mow his yard, your yard and the church yard all while walking the dogs, taking the neighbors their mail and re-building a house anywhere without batting an eye.

Allen got his drive from his Mom, but he often said he learned everything he knew from his Dad.  He spent years creating custom bathrooms and kitchens and setting specialty tile all over the Texas coastline.  He could build a house from the ground up and he taught his sons how to build them too.  He wanted them to know how to be able to take care of problems that came up on their own.  In other words, he was teaching them to fish.

Did I say FISH?  Man, could that man fish!  He loved every minute of being in the ocean, lake, pond or a puddle.  If it was deep enough, he'd put a line in.  In his younger years he would scuba dive and spear fish.

He conquered the water and now it was the sky that was on his list, so he made over 100 jumps from an airplane.  Thankfully there was a parachute involved each time.

Allen and Judy went on all kinds of amazing adventures all over the world...Ireland, Scotland, Greenland, The West Indies, Jamaica, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, if a boat goes there, they've at least had a thought about hopping on it.

In his later years, his friends, family and community were the most important things to him.  He lived on Coffee and Jesus.  He really enjoyed church and the Men's Bible Study on Monday night and the friends he made there. He Loved being with his friends at the Code Enforcement Office and rushing out to get all the mowing done.  He was a mowing MACHINE.

At the end of it all, Allen was a man who loved deeply and completely.  He loved with all his heart.  When he loved you, he gave everything, all of himself to you.  The Bible says in Galatians 5:13 Above all things have an intense and unfailing love for one another.  And that was Allen, our Papa.

Survivors include his wife Judy Baker; daughter Amanda Virginia Johnson; sons Rick Malachowski and wife Jana, Jim Malachowski and wife Kristen; grandchildren Jared Johnson and wife Morgan, and great grandchildren Lily Paige, Levi Garrett; Alyxandria Malachowski, Stephen, Samuel, Rebecca, Robert, Sarah and Samantha, and Elizabeth Ann Bowman and husband David, and great grandchildren Nikolaus and Charlotte.
