Alice Elizabeth (Johs-Schuelke) Wright January 7, 1922 - December 25, 2019  Alice Elizabeth (Johs-Schuelke) Wright, 97, of Port Lavaca, passed away on December 25, 2019 at the Home Place in Ganado. She was born January 7, 1922 in Deutschburg to Erhardt and Elizabeth Johs, who emigrated from Jalagons, Hunkarin, Austria-Hungary.

She married Leonard Schuelke in 1942 and they had 2 children, Larry and Barbara, before he passed in 1950.   She then married Wesley Vernon Wright on June 19, 1953 and they had one child, Kay. They celebrated 56 years of marriage. They lived in Palacios until 2005 and then moved to the Olivia area.   Alice had many stories about her working days at the Green Lantern, Dr. Sandford's office, Alcoa and The City State Bank from which she retired after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Palacios Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.   After retirement, she and Vernon traveled and danced often. She always had a crochet needle in her hand, enjoyed her "Girls Trip" and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Verna Kay Brown and husband Leslie; by grandchildren Stacy and Wendy Schuelke, Jennifer Herrera and Keith Brown, Kristi Campbell and husband John, and Tyler Jackson. By great-grandchildren Jacqueline, Justine and Joshua Herrera and wife Shelby, Nicole, Brice and Blake Brown, and Caroline and Julia Campbell.   She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Schuelke and her daughter, Barbara (Schuelke-Jackson) Woods and her brothers John, Joe, Tony, Erich, Albert, Henry and Frank Johs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Palacios First Methodist Church (PO Box 947, Palacios, TX 77465) or Point Comfort Methodist Church (PO Box 787, Point Comfort, TX 77978).

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 4pm to 6pm at Palacios Funeral Home in Palacios. The Funeral Service will be at 10am on Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Palacios First United Methodist Church with the Burial at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, TX. Pallbearers will be: Gary Walton, Bobby Walton, Robert Johs, Tony Johs, and Galen Johnson.
