Obituary

Alice F. Tinnin was born to Isidore Frelich and Angelina Cuellar on March 29, 1924 in Laredo, TX. She grew up in Laredo and graduated from Martin High School in 1942. After high school Alice attended A & I University in Kingsville, TX, and worked at the Laredo Army Air Force Base. During this time she met and became engaged to Clyde Tinnin.

Clyde and Alice were married on January 4, 1943, and started their life together in Houston, TX. The U.S. Army 103rd Infantry Division shipped Clyde overseas, and during his absence Alice waited for him in Houston, working to support the war effort at Cameron Iron Works and attending Massey Business College at night. Clyde and Alice were proud members of the "Greatest Generation" that built our country.
Clyde returned from Europe and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in November of 1945. Alice would always say, "Our war adventures ended, and the oilfield adventures began!"

The oilfield adventures consisted of moving to many different places with different oil companies until Clyde decided to stay with Mobil Oil Company. Working for Mobil, Clyde and Alice lived in Wharton, TX for several years, with Alice working as a homemaker and a stenographer for the Texas Department of Public Welfare. Clyde and Alice were busy in Wharton with their three girls and newborn son.

In 1960, Mobil Oil transferred Clyde to Bay City, TX, and this became the Tinnins' permanent home. Another son was born and the adventures continued!

Alice loved her work as an active member of the Bay City Community. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a leader in the 4H Horse Club, the always reliable "Room Mother", and substitute taught for BCISD in the 1970's.

Alice dearly loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and was a faithful servant and witness throughout her life. Not only did she teach her five children to love God, she also shared her love of our Lord with many other children through her 20 years of service as a teacher of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD).

In her recent years Alice was a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a faithful visitor to the aging and ill residents in the nursing homes, and a mentor at Cherry Elementary and Bay City Junior High.

Paramount in Alice's life was her membership and service at Holy Cross Catholic church. She was also a member of the Holy Cross Altar Society and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Count Resurrection 2054.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Clyde Tinnin, two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her children: Daughter, Jean, and husband Ronnie Fehmel; Daughter Novie T.
