Alfred George "A.G." Clayton, 87, of Bay City, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Spring, TX. He was born November 24, 1921 in Hagansport, TX to John Jepsey Clayton and Effie Mae Henry Clayton. He was a lifelong resident of Bay City and was a retired mechanic and farmer. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 865 of Bay City and a life member of VFW Post # 2438 of Bay City. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Air Force.

He is survived by his daughter: Janice R. Durochez & husband G. L. "Butch" of Cypress; by his son: Michael W. Clayton & wife Malda of Bay City; by sisters: Dorothy Wymack and Joy Murphree of Bay City; a brother: James Clayton of Bay City; by grandchildren: Patrick and Scott Durochez; and by great grandchildren: Nicholas, Rowan, and Caden. He was preceded in death by his wife: Margaret "Margie" Clayton; his parents: John J. & Effie Mae Clayton; by 2 sisters: Etter Mae Clayton and Lillian Ruth Martin; and by 2 brothers: W. J. Clayton and Oscar Clayton.

The family will receive visitors from 6 PM to 8 PM Monday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Mutz officiating. Masonic Graveside services will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Patrick Durochez, Butch Durochez, Scott Durochez, D. L. Layton, Gary Murphree and Wayne Murphree. Honorary pallbearers will be James Clayton, Chris Murphree, Arvon Staats, and Donald Staats.
