Obituary
Alfonso Chavez, 80, of Bay City passed away October 21, 2015. He was born January 20, 1935 in Matagorda, TX to the late Placido Chavez and Higinia Alvarado Chavez.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Maria Palomares Chavez of Bay City; daughters Jessica Chavez, Ruby Garza (Gabriel) and Elaine Chavez all of Bay City and Rebecca De la Rosa of Philadelphia, PA; son Alfonso Chavez, Jr. of Bay City; sisters Lucia Garcia and Maria Garcia both of Palacios; brothers Rafael Chavez and Roy Chavez both of Wharton, and 8 grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alfonso Chavez, Jr., Gabriel Garza, Bobby Chavez, Roy Chavez, Jr., Joe Chavez and Eric Garcia.
