Albert George Hoffman, Sr., 81, of Bay City, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008. He was born February 11, 1927 in Clemville, TX to Gustave Elirt Hoffman and Selma Schulze Hoffman. He was a lifelong resident of Matagorda County and was a former Police Officer for the City of Bay City. He was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church of El Campo and was a charter member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Bay City; a retired pipefitter having worked with Phillips Petroleum and for Pipefitters Local #211. He was also a member of VFW post # 2438 in Bay City and was a veteran of the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife: Genevia Schimek Hoffman of Bay City; by his sons: Albert G. Hoffman, Jr. & wife Janet of Wharton and Randy L. Hoffman, Sr. and wife Kathy of Bay City; his brothers: Gus Hoffman and Wilbur Hoffman, both of Markham; and by 5 grandchildren: Kristi Hoffman, Trey Hoffman, Susan Hoffman, Randy Lynn Hoffman, Jr., and John Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gustave & Selma Hoffman; his brother: Henry Hoffman; and a granddaughter: Dawn Leann Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Bay City with Rev. Jared Stillions officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City, TX. Pallbearers will be Paul Roe, Robert Roe, Clark Bergstrom, Robert Hoffman, Ottmar Schimek, Jr. and Russell Corporon.
