It is with great sadness that we inform you that Albert Roy Bissett of Wadsworth has passed away on April 17, 2026 at the age of 77. Born June 27, 1948, in Bay City, Texas, Albert was a valued and respected part of Matagorda County.
Albert was born to Norman and Avis Bissett and went on to attend Texas A&M University and eventually graduated from Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas. Albert went on to begin a career in agriculture. He worked for the Texas Animal Health Commission and then eventually moved back home to Wadsworth Texas and began cattle ranching and row crop farming. Albert was an active participant in RCA and PRCA for many years rodeoing in saddle bronc, steer wrestling, and tiedown roping. He passed down his love for rodeo to his children and taught all the local kids that enjoyed horses and the sport of rodeo. Albert was a key member in starting different Matagorda County Youth rodeo organizations through the years. At this time Albert became an operator at Lyondell-Bassell and would eventually retire from that position 20 years later. In retirement Albert enjoyed traveling, raising his cattle and teaching his grandkids all about his love of agriculture and the outdoors.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Avis Bissett and his older brother James “Sonny” Bissett and brother-in-law Arnold “Sid” Kahla.
Albert leaves a legacy behind of family and hard work. He never met a man he wouldn't help. He is survived by his ex-wife of 39 years, Jalinda Bissett, his three children, Amy Briggs, Keley Bissett and Trey Bissett , his two grandchildren, Bryant Tidwell and Adelynn Tidwell, his son in law, Chad Briggs and his daughter in law, Whitney Robinson. Albert is also survived by his brother, John “Toots” Bissett and sister-in-law Patricia Bissett, his sister Norma “Sissy” Kahla and sister-in-law Elizabeth “Libby” Bissett.
A ceremony to honor Albert’s life will be held at Taylor-Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday April 25, 2026 at 2:00 pm following a burial at Cedarvale Cemetery. A Celebration of Life and Memories Dinner will be held at Wadsworth Community Center immediately following the burial, 20674 FM 521, Wadsworth Texas.
