Abel Joe Cantu, Jr., 38, of Van Vleck passed away May 5, 2013. He was born September 29, 1974 in Bay City to Abel Joe Cantu, Sr. and Olivia Gonzales Cantu. He was a pipe-fitter foreman who enjoyed playing softball, coaching Little League Baseball, watching both of his boys play baseball and was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan.

His father preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Erica Cantu; sons Jordan Cantu and Antonio "Tony" Cantu; mother Olivia Cantu; sisters Debbie Cantu & husband Frank, Amanda Cantu and Audra Cantu as well as several nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Daniel Gonzales, Eddie Esparza, Jr. Esparza, Lupe Zboral, Daniel Garza, Lynn Garza, Mario Hull, and Brett Pomeroy.
