Roy Evans

U.S. Veteran

Roy Evans, 87, of Bay City passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Matagorda Regional Medical Center. He was born September 19, 1924 in Wayne County, Mississippi to Samuel Oliver Evans and Clara Rolison Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sandra Rickaway; twin brother, Rex; brothers Sam and Lawrence and sisters Agnes Frost & Jewel Sykes. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie Dean Evans; daughters Carol Wolf & husband Kevin and Pam Calk & husband Wade; son and wonderful caregiver, Roy Dean Evans; brother Lamar Evans; grandchildren Ronald Lynn Rickaway & wife Laurie, Gregory Rickaway, Theresa Puccetti, Gerald Puccetti & wife Chelsey, Jennifer, Jessicca and Ashley Wolf, W. T. Calk & wife Shannon, Amanda Hahn & husband Jason and Dean Evans; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy served his country during World War II with the US Army Company ā€œCā€ 172D Engineers Combat Battalion. He was a Millwright by trade and a member of Millwright Local #2232. He was a life member of VFW Post 2438, member of Masonic Lodge #865 and a member of Bay City Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm until 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Bay City Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Pallbearers will be Wade Calk, Kevin Wolf, Gregory Rickaway, W. T. Calk, Gerald Puccetti and Robert Pulsifer.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Houston Hospice, especially Jackie Hooper, Bertha Jefferson, Pat Matthes and Don Storey.
