Carl A. King

U.S. Veteran

Carl A. King, 74, of Palacios passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 6, 1938 in San Antonio to the late Pauline Terry & Howard Lee King Sr.. Carl was an avid golfer, loved to work in his yard, and tend to his garden. He retired from Celanese after 37 years of faithful service. Carl loved spending time with his family, friends, cat Booger, and dogs Chance & Cody.

He his survived by his loving family; wife: Laverne Bowers King; daughter: Melodie Herzog & husband Billy; son: Carl L. “Bro” King; 2 stepchildren: Rocky Flewellen and Bryan Flewellen & wife Melissa; 2 brothers: Howard L. King Jr.and Chester Scott & wife Carmen; sister: Alice Huddleston & husband Arnold; 2 grandchildren: Brittney & Macy Herzog; 4 step grandchildren; and many extended family. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Bettye Jones “Boots” King, and son: Glen King.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, July 2, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers will be: Al Shaefer, James Pawlosky, Raymond Burt, Charlie Robertson, John Chipman, David Siptak, and Ben Kiker. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Mask, Mike McCloskey, Doc Fatheree, Paul Pearce, Verner "Butch" Bowers and Celanese retirees.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2400 Augusta Drive, Suite 175, Houston, Texas 77057-4989.
